ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
FINLEIGH ZACK DANCE
Finleigh Zack Dance: Creative Reflection
FZD’s approach to movement extends from a mindful perspective.
In this workshop, artists will combine aspects of movement, journaling, and mindfulness. This workshop will circulate around a themes of self reflection, relationships, and community which will allow participants to take this time for themselves, while also diving into the world of our current project.
Together we will tap into work utilising self care, mindfulness, and movement as a way to heal.
The workshop will be an intimate way to learn about the company’s creative practice and process.
By the end of our time together, dancers will have a better sense of how our company creates work while also discovering a meditative practice.
PREMIER DANCE THEATRE
Improvisation, Repertoire, Creative Processes: explore the practices used to build Premier Dance Theatre’s first work, Stasiland.
In this intimate workshop experience with Olivia Wallis Jackson (Premier Dance Theatre) you’ll have the opportunity to explore Stasiland’s unique repertoire and get a taste of the creative processes that we used to develop Premier Dance Theatre’s first professional work - supported by Arts Council England, Thrive (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance) and Luke Brown Company.
Together we’ll begin with improvisation, building ourselves up from the floor. The focus will be on the movement qualities we utilise in Stasiland, allowing us to warm up while tapping into the textures that feature in the work. We’ll then smoothly shift into learning repertoire, while exploring the set and games we used to give the work it’s distinctive atmosphere, allowing artists to build on their knowledge of the movement language unique to Stasiland. From this point we’ll engage in the creative process that developed the repertoire and vignettes that you’ll see in the work, telling the stories of Stasiland’s characters.
We are so excited to bring this workshop to London after previous success on the South Coast. It is perfect for emerging artists, graduates & final year students in full time professional training.
VIM VIGOR DANCE COMPANY
VIM VIGOR WORKSHOP / MANIAC
Push your physical and creative limits in this high-intensity workshop led by VIM VIGOR co-directors Shannon Gillen and Jason Cianciulli. We fuse raw physicality with deep, dynamic connection, igniting both the athlete and the artist within you. Each session begins with an intense physical progression designed to build heat, strength, stamina, and control, preparing your body for mind-bending phrase work that has you navigating unexpected shifts in size, direction, tone, texture, perspective, environment, and imagined scenarios. For us, creativity starts with connecting to our attention, so you will explore movement practices that bring you into the here and now, where you can push your body, test new terrain, and transcend preconceived limits. In keeping with VIM’s choreographic work, you will dive into space-eating actions that move seamlessly into and out of the floor, blending acrobatic techniques with contemporary movement. Together we will find internal and external engines for our explosive physicality, combining raw athleticism with complex gestural work that taps into layered rhythmic and energetic qualities. As we move into partnering work, we bring our attention to one another. You will hone the skill of reading your partner’s body and energy, learning when to release control and when to direct the flow, finding perfect moments to transfer weight, judge distances, and ride shifting trajectories through space. It’s a high-stakes game of listening, responding, and connecting—both with your fellow movers and with the deeper, unexplored parts of yourself. Collectively, we will create a space where robust physical research fuels a living, breathing fantasy—a kind of wish fulfillment in motion. Effort, surrender, transformation, and full-bodied passion are waiting. Come get lost.
CONJURE COLLECTIVE
Join Anabelle and Rainey Scarborough of Conjure Collective, alongside Devin Fulton of Dev Dance Theater, for an immersive workshop inspired by their upcoming collaborative performance: Memory Traveler. This session blends dance, storytelling, and collective creativity to explore themes of movement, healing, empowerment, and connection.
Through a guided yoga flow warm-up, participants will ground themselves in their bodies, unlocking their innate potential for expression. From there, they’ll delve into improvisation and free movement, using slow, controlled motions to access and uncover emotions buried deep within. The workshop also offers a unique opportunity to engage with the creative process behind the choreography, allowing participants the freedom to explore and play with the repertoire in their own way.
This workshop invites you to explore the intersection of intuition, creativity, and emotional depth, providing tools for self-expression and healing through dance and collaborative art. Whether you are a dancer or artist this session encourages you to connect more deeply with your body and the community around you. Open to dancers and movers of all levels and backgrounds.
